B K Construction works on a range of commercial projects every year. This is a sample of some of the work we have done:
Hemyock Church – Toilet Extension
Relyon, Wellington – Various projects have been carried out from 2017 – Date
Hemyock Engineering, Hemyock
Work was carried out on this commercial project in 2015 at Hemyock Engineering. It was to convert an existing timber frame building into a 200sqm office building. This included a conference and meeting room, two offices, male and female toilet facilities, a kitchen area, plus a yard mess and a yard toilet. New uPVC doors were fitted, the walls were spray painted, and underfloor heating was installed.
Magelake Parish Pavilion
The project to renovate Magelake Parish Pavilion was started by B K Construction in the summer of 2011 and completed May 2012. The aim was to raise the roof of the main building and to provide improved facilities for changing. This was to include four team changing rooms and two officials changing rooms. A disabled shower, with toilet facility and baby changing was also included. Since the work was carried out, Magelake Hall has had a new lease of life, and become a thriving centre for community of Uffculme and the surrounding area.
The OHSCC dates from 1912 and is situated in a Conservation Area. It was a school until 1989, when it was closed. It lay derelict until 1997 when it was rescued by the local community and is now widely used. In 2013 it became clear that the 100 year old wooden windows would need to be sympathetically replaced. B K Construction won the contract to provide and fit all the required bespoke engineered wooden windows, that were also fully double glazed. There were 53 windows – differing in sizes and design, including rounded arches, sash and large windows. The windows were safely and successfully installed, whilst allowing the community centre to remain open for the entire period.
St Ivel Garages, Hemyock
Hemyock was the original home of the St. Ivel Dairy processing plant before it was moved to the North of England. The St. Ivel garages were left disused, and in 2009 funding was received from Devon County Council to turn the old St. Ivel social club into the Blackdown Healthy Living Centre and the garages into a Community and Youth Centre. B K Construction was given the contract to convert the garages, and work began in December 2012.
North Street, Wellington
Adjacent buildings 7 and 9 North Street, Wellington were damaged in a fire in 2013, and as such had to have considerable renovation work carried out both internally and externally. The fire damage to 7 North Street can be seen in the images below:
B K Construction were awarded the contracts for work on both buildings and work to renovate the properties was carried out over a 10 month period.
